Buying Bamboo Fence - What is the Best Choice?
If you're planning to buy a bamboo fence , you've probably seen a lot of options and possibilities. But what's the best choice?
Bamboo fences are becoming increasingly popular, not only because they are beautiful but also because of their sustainable and environmentally friendly properties. However, there are so many different designs, colors, and sizes available, making the right choice isn't always easy.
At Masters of Bamboo, we're happy to help you get started, so we've put together this simple selection guide. Choose what applies to you and discover which bamboo fence suits you best.
The Freestanding Bamboo Fence
If a freestanding bamboo fence is going to be placed between you and your neighbors, it's important that it looks the same on both sides. When installing a bamboo fence between you and your neighbors, a fixed bamboo screen is a likely option. These are mounted between the garden posts and provide a sturdy bamboo fence with minimal visibility.
Fixed bamboo screens are usually made of thick poles to ensure sufficient strength. If you don't like the look of this, or your neighbors prefer a different fence, you can opt for a bamboo mat roll , bamboo slatted screen, or halved bamboo fences. To install these, you'll first need to build a frame from garden poles and planks onto which you'll attach the bamboo. This gives your neighbors the choice of how their fence will look—whether it's bamboo or wooden—you decide.
Renovating an Existing Fence
Renovating an existing fence is a good option if you have a fence that still has some life left in it, or a metal fence in a new development, for example. Because the base of the fence is still sturdy, it's perfectly suitable for cladding.
This way, you can affordably renovate your fence and create a bamboo one. An added benefit is that you can customize the look of your bamboo fence without affecting the neighbors' view.
Bamboo Fence in Different Heights or Sloping
In some situations, it's fun or desirable to play with heights, as is often seen in backyards or waterfront homes. The first few bamboo fence sections are 180 or 200 cm high, after which they either taper off or alternate with a low bamboo fence. This way, you enjoy privacy in one part of your garden, but also have the opportunity to chat with the neighbors.
Another reason to make a section of your bamboo fence a little lower is the view or the location where you place it. Lower bamboo fences are often installed near water or senior housing to allow for a view over the fence or for the social aspect.
Make your own bamboo fence
Another fun option is to build your bamboo fence from individual bamboo poles. These can be placed in the ground or concrete at different heights. If you place each pole at a different height, your bamboo fence will have a very natural and playful effect. You can determine the diameter and length of the poles yourself, giving you great flexibility in creating your bamboo fence's look.
You can also create a bamboo fence by using bamboo poles vertically. This way, you can choose from various diameters and lengths to determine the height and length of your bamboo fence. By playing with the lengths and diameters, you can create a unique bamboo fence that you can't buy off the shelf.
Making a Round Fence from Bamboo
You can create a round garden fence with bamboo in various ways. This can be achieved with a bamboo mat, bamboo slats, or individual bamboo poles. For example, a round bamboo fence can be a nice addition to a jacuzzi or outdoor shower.
Bamboo Fences Extra High
By default, you're not allowed to build a bamboo fence between or behind your house any higher than two meters. In front of your house, the maximum height is one meter. However, there are situations where you need a high fence, for example, to cover a shed or close off a covered area.
Extra high bamboo fences are available especially for these applications and can also be made from individual bamboo poles.
