Thatched roofs

Strodaken

Looking for a tropical roof? Our thatched roofs, available in lengths of 100 cm and 200 cm , are perfect for covering canopies, pergolas and parasols. They are also ideal for cladding walls during events and festivals, or as a natural roof covering on a tropical bar. The great thing is that the thatched roofs can easily be cut to size , so they always fit.

The thatched roofs are completely natural, made from dried palm leaves and bamboo slats. During production, the palm leaves are carefully boiled and then dried in the sun before being attached to the bamboo slats. For indoor use, we recommend impregnating the leaves to make them fire-resistant.

When used outdoors, the average lifespan of a thatched roof in our climate is about 5-7 years. In drier climates, the lifespan can be more than 10 years. The lifespan of the thatched roofs can be extended by mounting bamboo slats or bamboo Tonkin poles over the thatched roofs. This ensures a firm mounting, which minimizes the chance of it blowing loose or breaking.

Yes, thatched roofs from Masters of Bamboo are waterproof, provided they are installed correctly and maintained. When sufficient thatch is used, the roofs provide excellent protection against rain. Tip: Place corrugated sheets or roof tiles under the thatched roof for extra waterproofing and strength.

For a decorative roof, place the thatched roofs with an overlap of 30 to 35 cm. This means 3 thatched roofs of 100x70 cm per m², or 3 thatched roofs of 200x70 cm for 2 m². For a waterproof covering, ensure sufficient slope and use 5 thatched roofs per meter, with an overlap of 20 cm.
