TECHNICAL FEATURES

DIMENSIONS

Nominal diameter: 8 mm
Lengths: 180 and 200 mm
Suitable for thread: M8

  1. Bamboo constructions: Ideal for connecting bamboo poles in projects such as pergolas, canopies, garden houses, fencing, and other bamboo construction projects. The tap bolt ensures a firm and secure attachment.
  2. Woodworking and joining: Due to its strength and full thread, the M8 tap bolt is suitable for wooden structures, such as fences and wooden frames, where a durable and sturdy fastening is required.
  3. Metal and garden constructions: Also suitable for attaching mesh panels and metal parts to, for example, garden posts. The galvanizing protects the bolt from rust, which is important for outdoor use.

Supplies: Make sure you have the correct size drill bit and a size 13 wrench or socket on hand.

  1. Drilling holes: Drill a 10mm diameter hole in the materials you want to connect. Make sure the holes are aligned properly. Order your bamboo drill bit to make the correct size holes.
  2. Install the tap bolt: Insert the galvanized M8 tap bolt through the drilled holes. Make sure the bolt goes completely through both materials.
  3. To attach: Turn the hexagon nut and washer onto the stud. If the hexagon bolt is too long, you can easily saw it off with a hacksaw or angle grinder. Preferably, only saw off the stud after you have turned the nut on.
  4. Problems with the nut: If you cannot turn the nut onto the stud, you can grind down the threaded end a little with your grinder so that the nut fits onto the threaded end again.
  5. Finishing: For a nice finish you can use Manila- or palm rope to wrap around the connection camouflaging the stud and maintaining the natural look of the bamboo.
  6. Check the Connection: Check that everything is securely fastened and the structure is stable.

A Masterful Plant

How Strong is Bamboo?

Bamboo is remarkably strong and durable; it is often compared to steel because of its high tensile strength. This means that bamboo can withstand great forces without breaking. This property makes it ideal for applications in construction, furniture, and other products that require robustness.
