You can use reed roller blinds outdoors. The lifespan will be shorter than when used indoors. If you hang reed roller blinds outside, bring them indoors during autumn and winter, and let the roller blinds dry first when they are wet before rolling them up again, to prevent mould formation.

You determine the size of your reed roller blind by measuring the width of your window frame. If the roller blind will hang inside your frame, take the width measurement of your frame. If your roller blind will hang in front of the frame, add 5 cm on each side so that the roller blind properly covers the window.

A reed roller blind can easily be customised to size yourself. Reed is a soft material that can be cut with sharp scissors or sawed with a mitre saw. If you are cutting the roller blind to size with a mitre saw, keep the blind rolled up. You can shorten the blinds in height by cutting the cords. Make sure to always leave the cords a bit longer so you can tie the bottom slat back in place.
