The split bamboo fence 500 × 100 cm comes on a roll measuring 500 cm wide and 100 cm high. The fence roll is made of durable Tonkin bamboo, processed into narrow strips that are firmly bound together with galvanized steel wire. This makes the bamboo roll lightweight, yet strong and durable.

This fence is the most affordable choice in the Netherlands for those looking for a natural garden divider / fence. Thanks to its flexible material, the roll is easy to cut to size and simple to attach to an existing fence, wall, or railing.

Additionally, the split bamboo fence roll is ideal as roofing for a pergola or patio cover. You can quickly create a natural, sun-filtering finish.

Our split bamboo fences are perfect for anyone looking to quickly add a natural look to their garden or balcony. They are made from Tonkin bamboo sticks, which are processed into narrow strips and securely bound together with strong galvanized steel wire. These fences are lightweight yet very strong, making them suitable for various applications.

What makes them particularly special is that they are available in lengths of 500 cm—wider than most standard bamboo fences—and are 100 cm high. Additionally, they are easy to shorten or cut to size, allowing you to tailor them perfectly to your project. They are versatile and affordable, making them affordable for any budget.

Furthermore, they are ideal as roofing on your bamboo pergola or patio cover; the small gaps between the bamboo strips create a beautiful shading effect. They are also perfect as a wall covering for existing fences, walls, or aluminum railings. In short: Split bamboo fences are widely used as balcony or patio screens because they are lightweight, durable, and inexpensive.

  8. Temporary Flooring: For events or festivals, the split mats can serve as sturdy flooring over sand or grass. This provides a comfortable walking surface for guests.

Attaching to an existing wall or fence

You can easily attach a split bamboo fence to an existing wall or fence with our special mounting screws. Place the screws between the bamboo strips and tighten them so that the mounting ring presses the bamboo strips firmly against the wall. Do not screw directly through the bamboo strips to prevent splitting.

Attaching to a Mesh Panel, Metal Fence or Balcony

Attaching a split bamboo fence to a wire mesh panel, metal fence or balcony is easy using binding wires or cable ties. Bend the cable ties around the galvanized steel wire running through the split bamboo fence and pull them tight.

Attach as Roofing

When used as roofing, it is important to ensure the mat has sufficient support to prevent sagging and extend its lifespan. Depending on the material of the structure on which the split mat is used, we recommend using the special mounting screws, binding wires, or tie-wraps. Use enough fastening material to prevent it from being dislodged by the wind.

Customizing your Split Bamboo Mat

If you want to shorten the width of a split bamboo mat, cut the galvanized steel wires at the desired location with a pair of pliers. Be careful not to cut the wire too short, because you still need to leave a bit to fold the end back and secure it back into place. This will keep the fence sturdy and neatly finished.

To adjust the height, you can saw or cut the bamboo strips to the desired height with sharp pruning shears. When sawing, preferably use a fine-toothed saw blade to prevent the bamboo from fraying.

Maintaining split bamboo fences is simple. Here are some tips to keep them in good condition:

  • Regular cleaning: Remove dirt, leaves, and dust from the fences by rinsing them with water or using a soft brush. This prevents dirt from accumulating and damaging the fence roll.
  • Treating against weathering: Due to exposure to sun and rain, bamboo can turn grey. To slow this process and keep the fences looking good for longer, it is recommended to treat them annually with Bamboo Protector, a UV-resistant varnish that reduces greying.
  • Protecting from moisture: Try to prevent the bottom of the fence from being in continuous contact with moist ground or standing water, as this can cause the fence to eventually rot. Ensure the fence roll can dry properly.
  • Repairing damage: If the galvanized steel wires come loose or bamboo strips break, you can easily repair the fence by attaching new wires or replacing the broken strips.

A Masterful Plant

How Strong is Bamboo?

Bamboo is remarkably strong and durable; it is often compared to steel because of its high tensile strength. This means that bamboo can withstand great forces without breaking. This property makes it ideal for applications in construction, furniture, and other products that require robustness.
