Frequently Asked Questions

Our Tonkin sticks have a natural taper of ± 5% over a length of 1.5 meters. This means that the stick gradually becomes slightly thinner towards the top.

Bamboo is naturally moisture-resistant, but prolonged contact with water can reduce its lifespan. Would you still like to use them in a humid environment? Then treat them with our Bamboo Ground Protector for extra protection.

Yes, certainly! Our Tonkin sticks are untreated and do not contain any hazardous substances. They are therefore safe to use with vegetable and fruit plants.

Tonkin bamboo poles are thinner, straighter and have a thicker wall relative to their diameter. Moso bamboo poles are thicker and are used more for structural applications. For plant support, our Tonkin poles are the best choice. For more sturdiness, we recommend our Moso poles.

Bamboo is the fastest growing wood species in the world. The production of bamboo has a low impact on the environment, and because it is a natural product, it is also very sustainable.

How Strong is Bamboo?

Bamboo is remarkably strong and durable; it is often compared to steel because of its high tensile strength. This means bamboo can withstand great forces without breaking. This property makes it ideal for use in construction, furniture and other products that require robustness.
