General tips:

  • Build the pergola with at least two people.
  • Tools needed: measuring tape, pencil, 13 mm wrench, hacksaw, drill.

Assembling the pergola:

You can attach the bamboo poles of the pergola in different ways, depending on the surface and your preference:

1. On hard surfaces (such as tiles, wood or concrete):
Use our bamboo pole holder with a base plate.

  • Drill 8mm holes in the bamboo pole that match the holes in the pole holder.
  • Slide the pole over the pole holder and secure everything with the supplied bolts and nuts.
  • Make sure the pole floats about 2cm above the steel plate, so that the bamboo does not stand directly on the steel and cannot rot.

2. In the ground:
You have two options here:

  • Place directly in the ground: First treat the part of the bamboo pole that goes into the ground with the special black Bamboo Ground Protector. This protects the bamboo against wood rot and extends its lifespan. Let the coating dry thoroughly and then drive the post at least 60 cm into the ground.
  • Use of the bamboo pole holder ground pin:This allows you to firmly anchor the post in the ground without direct contact with the earth.

For both options, we recommend filling the hole around the post or ground stake with cement. This provides extra strength and stability.

Extra Tip:

You'll need to cut the threaded rods of the pole holders to size yourself. This can be easily done with a hacksaw or angle grinder (not included).
