The straw mat Eco is a biodegradable mat, made from natural straw, that is beautifully compacted and firmly bound together. A full 15 mm thick, with a length of 300 cm and a height of 100 cm, you can cover a nice surface area with it. Lightweight, easy to cut to size and to install. Excellently suited as a garden partition, roofing, against your balcony railing, or as protection for trees, slopes, embankments, and erosion control.

Our Stromat Eco is made from 100% natural straw and comes from our factory in China. This mat stands out from others because it is beautifully full and a generous 15 mm thick. For extra sturdiness, additional wires are woven through so that the straw stays firmly in place and the mat retains its appearance for longer.
The straw mat on a roll has a length of 300 cm and a height of 100 cm, allowing you to cover many meters, and this height is excellent for covering low fences or your balcony railing.

Straw is a flexible and lightweight material, making this mat easy to attach. We recommend using mounting screws, tie-wraps, binding wires or ground pins. If you want to shorten the straw mat, use pruning shears, a serrated knife or sturdy scissors.

Use this affordable and natural straw mat as a garden divider, wall covering, or terrace partition. It is also perfect for covering and protecting trees, slopes, erosion control, bank protection, etc. The mat is water-permeable and breathable and has a natural appearance.

This straw mat can be used for a great many applications and is also ecological and biodegradable.

The straw mat Eco of 1 metre high is a flexible mat, lightweight and therefore easy to attach. Below we provide some tips for fastening in various applications:

Mounting against structures or fencing

Level the top edge for a nice straight line, then secure the straw mat with cable ties or binding wires. Do this every 30-50 cm for extra stability.

Mounting against a wooden fence or wall

Level the top edge for a nice straight line, then secure the straw mat with mounting screws. Do this every 30-50 cm for extra stability.

Installation on banks, embankments or slopes (Erosion control)

Lay the straw mat Eco from top to bottom along the bank, embankment or slope. Overlap the strips by at least 10 cm. Then secure the straw mats with wooden or metal ground pins. Afterwards, optionally spread soil or sand over the straw mat for rapid vegetation growth.

Use as a base layer for green roofs

Lay the straw mat directly on the roof structure, ensuring adjoining strips without gaps. Weigh down the corners with substrate or stones. Ideal base layer for a sedum roof.

Tree protection / Trunk protection / Root protection against frost

With the Straw Mat Eco you can excellently protect the trunk of a tree against animals and the climate. Roll the straw mat around the trunk, cut off excess straw and then tie the straw mat securely with manila rope or binding twine.
To protect tree roots, cut a circular shape from the straw mat, place it around the trunk, preferably leaving 5-10 cm of free space around the trunk. Then secure the straw mat with ground pins.

The straw mat Eco 300 x 100 cm is natural, biodegradable and requires virtually no maintenance.

If you do want to clean the straw mat, use a soft brush and some water. Do NOT use a high-pressure washer.

When used outdoors, the straw mat will turn grey over time. This is a natural process and normal for this product. The greying does not affect the functionality.
Check 1-2 times per year whether the straw mat is still securely fastened and has not shifted. Re-secure any parts that may have come loose for the longest lifespan.

This straw mat is biodegradable and therefore leaves no waste or harmful residues behind.
