The split reed mat Splitta, with dimensions of 500 cm wide and 200 cm high, is the most affordable option for a temporary boundary fence or covering your fencing. The mat consists of split reed stems with a thickness of 8 to 10 mm. If you're looking for an affordable way to create privacy until your climbing plants have fully grown, this mat is the ideal choice. The reed stems do not connect seamlessly, leaving space between them. Climbing plants love to grow over and through the split reed mat, which makes it a perfect base for growing over.

The reed mat is machine-woven with galvanized steel wires that are wrapped around the half reed stems. A split reed mat can easily be cut to the desired size. Mounting against a fence or existing screen can be done with binding wire or mounting screws.

The split reed mat Splitta is easy to use. The mat is super lightweight, flexible and easy to handle.

Attaching a split reed mat is easy to do yourself. You can mount it on a wooden fence. Use our mounting screws every 30 to 50 centimetres.

If you want to attach the split reed mats to fences, construction fences or mesh panels, use our Tie Wraps or binding wire. Make sure you use enough; every 30 to 50 cm is recommended. The less the split reed mat can move, the longer its lifespan will be.

A split reed mat Splitta can become dirty and develop deposits. You can remove dirt and deposits by rinsing the reed mat with a garden hose and wiping it clean with a soft brush. Do not use a pressure washer, as this can damage the reed.

Regularly check that the reed mat is still firmly attached to your fence. Especially after a storm, binding wires can come loose, causing the reed mat to start moving. Repair small damages immediately with binding wire, screws or tie-wraps. This way you prevent further wear. Always make sure your split reed mat Splitta is properly and firmly attached.

Never place a split reed mat on the ground and always try to keep it at least 2 cm off the ground. Reed will quickly start to rot if it is in direct contact with the ground. To protect the reed mat against moisture and give it some extra colour, you can treat the split reed mat with Bamboe Booster. This natural oil gives the reed extra protection.
