Mounting the pole holder on a pole

Step 1. Remove the bulkheads from the post

Hold the pole holder against the pole and check if there's a knot (node) blocking the installation. Using a threaded rod and a hammer, you can gently tap through the node. You can also use the pole holder itself for this.

Step 2. Marking out where the holes should be

mark out the bamboo pole for the pole holder

Option 1: Measure where the holes should be on the post. Place the post on a wooden block and mark where the holes should be drilled. Using the block ensures that you always secure the post slightly above the ground.

Option 2: Use a homemade template. Take a halved post from which you've removed the dividers. Hold it at the correct height against the post where you want to attach the post holder. Then use a long drill bit to mark the correct locations through the holes in the template.

Step 3. Drill holes in the post

Drill the holes at the marked locations, or place the template against the post and drill directly through the previously drilled holes in the template. The holes should be approximately 10mm.

Step 4. Secure the post with bolts

Insert the post holder into the post and insert the bolts through the holes. Only tighten the nuts once you're sure all the bolts fit properly. This ensures everything fits correctly. Once all the bolts are in place, tighten them securely with the nuts. Use a hacksaw to cut off any protruding threads.

Installing the post holder in the ground

If you're installing the post holder in the ground , make sure you've completed steps 1 through 3 of the post installation process. You want to ensure the post fits properly on the post holder before placing it in the ground. Once the post is properly prepared, you can install the post holder in the ground. Pay close attention to the position of the holes so you can place the post correctly on the holder.

The pole holder extends approximately 45 cm into the ground and is 90 cm long in total. Keep in mind that it's best to mount the bamboo poles a few centimeters above the ground. Therefore, don't install the pole holder too deep.

There are two ways to place the post holder in the ground:

Option 1: In firm clay soil, you can drive the post holder directly into the ground. This only works if the ground is hard enough.

Option 2: If in doubt, we recommend drilling a hole and securing the post holder with a little cement. The post holder comes with three extra nuts and bolts for the holes on the bottom. Insert these first. Then place the post holder in the hole and pour some cement around the holder. Once the cement has hardened, you can fill the hole with soil.

Mounting the pole holder on the ground

If you want to mount the pole holder on the ground , first complete steps 1 through 3 of mounting it on the pole. Check that the pole fits properly on the holder before permanently securing it. Pay close attention to the position of the holes so that the pole can be positioned correctly on the holder. After drilling the holes in the pole, mount the pole holder in the correct location. Only then mount the pole on the holder.

The post holder has four mounting holes. Screws and wall plugs are not included, as this depends on the surface.

    Option 1: On a deck

Use long screws that go through the decking boards. Ideally, position the post holder so you can drill into the underlying decking joists (underlays).

    Option 2: On tiles

Place the post holder on the tile and mark the holes. Then drill the holes and use wall plugs for extra strength. Finally, place the post holder in place and secure it with screws.

Now slide the bamboo pole back over the mounted pole holder and secure it again with the supplied M8 bolts, nuts and washers.
